A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for cultivation of maize.

Achaus Group's story

This isn't the first season Rose is working with One Acre Fund. She's been a member a decade and represents her group of 10 farmers in Chelelemuk Duka Zone District, Kenya.

She's often described by her community as very trustworthy and became the one to represent her group because she wants to spread the stories of One Acre Fund farmers. Like many of her fellow farmers, Rose wants to be part of the One Acre Fund community to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds and hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to save more money for the future.

This loan will help not only Rose, but the whole group, which will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 7.04 acres. (Rose is holding a solar light purchased previously with a Kiva loan.)

In this group: Rose, Gladys , Bena , Resper , Janet , Elizabeth , Carolyne , Immaculaate , Godfrey , Aggrey

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
