A loan helped to buy dry food to sell.

Samsa's story

Samsa is a refugee and hardworking mother of 6 children, all of whom attend school in Yumbe. Life has not been easy and to be where she is today, is by the grace of God.

Leaving her comfortable home in Sudan and moving to Uganda was a very challenging time. But she chose not to give up and worked hard to make a difference in her life.

She grows maize, cassava and sorghum. Besides farming, she also has a small grinding mill. The demand for food is very high in the community where she lives.

She would like to buy various dry foods like rice, posho and millet. With this in place, she will be able to sell more foods and pay school fees.

Today her life is much better, and the business has really grown. She is a happy person, and her family can afford to have a balanced diet and 2 meals a day.

Her dream is to buy a tricycle. This will enable her to reduce her transport costs and also help her get extra income, hence improving the lifestyle of her family.

She is very glad for all the support that VisionFund and Kiva have given her.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees in Uganda rebuild and sustain their livelihoods.
