A loan helped to buy sesame seeds, beans seeds, maize seeds, herbicides, water pump, and pay the garden rental fee.

Zefa's story

Zefa is a 29-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in Chikwawa district in Malawi. She owns an agricultural farming business. She used her previous Kiva loan to improve her business, and through the profits she earned, she supported her family and continued to grow her business.

Zefa is now requesting another loan to boost her business by buying sesame seeds, beans seeds, maize seeds, pesticides and herbicides, empty sacks to store her produce and a water pump, and pay the garden rental fee.

She plans to use the profit she earns to continue to support her family members and to also contribute to philanthropic activities in her community.

She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a Camfed Learner Guide, supporting students at her local school, conducting home visits, monitoring their progress and supporting them where needed.

This loan is special because:

It is a 0% interest loan for a young woman growing her business.
