A loan helped a woman-owned small business advancing access to Spanish-language literature get started!

Brittany's story

My name is Brittany and I am the owner of Ambivert Books. I was inspired to start the bookshop while browsing with friends at a well-renowned bookstore in Mexico City in 2022. While browsing, my friends, who live in Latin America, gave me several recommendations for books they believed I would enjoy. I did purchase one or two that day, and took down the names of the others, fully intending to purchase them online once I was back home. Unfortunately, most, if not all, were unavailable.

This unsuccessful effort made me realize the breadth of literature that has been unavailable to me in the United States and inspired me to look for ways to confront this problem. I have been an avid reader since childhood, however, I learned Spanish in college. I graduated with a BA in Spanish from Texas A&M University.

There, I learned to combine my passion for literature and for language learning and was introduced to Spanish language classics such as Cien años de soledad, La casa de los espíritus, and Como agua para chocolate. I have lived in Granada and Barcelona, Spain.

This loan is special because:

It supports a small business owner with 0%-interest, zero-fee capital.
