A loan helped to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale.

Aidha's story

Aidha is 36 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children who are all currently in school. For the past 5 years, Aidha has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like shirts and dresses. To help expand her business, Aidha has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale. This will help Aidha to generate greater profits and provide enough basic needs for her family and also pay school fees for her children and take good care of herself. Aidha hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her clothes business into a bigger boutique. Esther is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Aidha who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
