A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making business.

Malia's story

Her name is Malia, and she is a 45-year-old mother of two teenagers. Malia makes a living from making tapas and selling to local and overseas customers. Once every week, she joins a group of women in the village, and together they perform the making of tapas. She self-designs her tapas, then sells out. Her two teenage daughters help her with preparing her soft tapas. With this loan, she is able to buy mulberry for her business.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
