A loan helped a member to restock merchandise in her business selling fast food as a street vendor.

Grupo Estrella Group's story

Ignacia is a member and representative of the Grupo Estrella group. She and her group are part of the Guarambaré community. It is known as the “bello jardín vy'a renda" (site of happiness). It is located a little more than 30 kilometers from Asunción. It is considered to be a semi rural community, where items are made from leather, traditional Paraguayan lace, and wicker. (Some members of the group work in this trade.)

Ignacia works selling food. Although she is a widow, she has three children who are still dependent on her.

She sells fast food, such as empanadas, sandwiches, breaded-fried steak and marinated meats, among other things. With this loan she wants to buy ingredients in large quantities. This will enable her to improve her profit margins, and she will soon be able to set up her own locale, as she now prepares her food and goes out to sell it in her community.

Ignacia says that every day has its challenges, but she can survive each day with the help of loans and the community of her group. Note that the man who appears in the photo is also a group member. The girl in the photo is the daughter of a group member.

In this group: Karina Yohana, Alicia Ramona, Maria Celedonia, Maria Celeste, Veronica Concepcion, Liz Aurelia, Maria Dominga, Julia, Mariza Elizabeth, Adriana, Ignacia Flora, Wilfrido, Myrian Beatriz, Monica Araceli, Maria Clementina, Mirian Noelia, Silvia Jorgelina, Maria Dominga, Pabla
