A loan helped our shared kitchen to purchase a walk-in freezer so that we may meet increased demand!

Stephanie's story

Hi, we are Brian Martin and Stephanie Kirkpatrick, the founders of Spring Kitchen, a shared kitchen and pop-up space. Brian has experience in project management and logistics, while Stephanie has a Master's in Finance and has worked in the food industry for over 10 years. We are both passionate about food, and small local businesses in our community.

We are building a shared kitchen permitted for food retail and manufacturing. The build-out includes a shipping and receiving area with a garage door for bulk orders, and ample storage space for dry, refrigerated, and frozen ingredients. The building will have a designated space to conduct cooking classes, host private dinners or tastings, and set up pop-ups for delivery & pick up to help build a customer base.

I, Stephanie, started Bartleby's Seitan Stand in 2018, a food truck that ran successfully for 5 years. During the 2020 pandemic, Bartleby's launched a frozen line for grocery stores. Through the experience of working in the small business food space, myself & Brian realized there was a need in Northwest Arkansas for a shared kitchen that would allow small food businesses to grow. It isn't easy to secure time, space, and storage for a budding new business, and there are very few shared kitchens in this area.

There was no readily available stepping stone between struggling to run the business from home to take the giant leap of building out a risky, cost-prohibitive storefront.
After years of market research and searching for the right location, we secured a building to renovate into a shared kitchen. The location is only 1 mile from the highway, 2.5 miles from downtown Springdale, and 2 miles from Sam's Club making it a convenient place for small business owners to create a home base.

NWA has become nationally recognized as a culinary scene with a huge emphasis on local food. We are excited to provide this vibrant foodie community with an incubator space, focused on helping entrepreneurs to grow and market their local food business.
