A loan helped to purchase more red oil, fufu, charcoal, and other items to sell.

Asatu's story

Meet 45 year-old Asatu from Liberia. She is married and has four children who are presently in school and live at home. She is a hardworking businesswoman who sells red oil, fufu, charcoal, and other items. Twenty years ago, she started operating her sales. She learned how to sell by herself and started the business with earnings from her husband. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site and sells Monday through Saturday.

Asatu requested this loan from BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. With this loan, she will purchase more red oil, fufu, charcoal, and other items to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because it helps her a lot.

She wants to increase her business and continue her children's education in the future. She says thanks and gives appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
