A loan helped a member to buy goats for fattening.

Mbousnakh Gourbane Group's story

The 'banc villageois' was created on 31 January 1988. It is made up of women involved in livestock fattening and livestock trading. They live in the same village and the surrounding area. These women are very supportive of each other.

Mrs Amy is a 64-year-old married woman with 5 children, including 3 daughters. Her children all go to school. She is the group's representative. She breeds goats. She is on the right of the photo with her hand raised.

With the loan, she will buy 5 goats at 75,000 francs each and the rest of the feed. After 6 months she will fatten them up and sell them for double the price.

It's a business that's doing well, and she has a good clientele who take all the goats. That gives her substantial profits. She sells good quality goats that grow quickly and are well fattened.

She uses the profits to build up her savings and help her children, who are still at school.
