A loan helped to purchase a washing machine and clothing inventory.

Marina Elizabeth's story

Marina, now 30 years old, is married and now has two children, one is four years old and a baby is a month and a half old. Her spouse is a merchant and sells in three communities near their locality. Marina studied systems engineering while she worked, but she had to take a break due to her wedding and the birth of her daughter and now, with two children, she has focused 100% on the business.

Seven months ago, Marina got her her second and first loans with Kiva. This loan served her to expand her business of new and used clothing for men and children. Some months later, with her savings and earnings, Marina was able to purchase equipment and raw materials to open a laundry business. She now has her business selling clothing and also has 4 washers and 2 dryers, and a several gallons of detergent for her laundry business. Her spouse also supports her in tending the business. They rent the space where they have their laundry.

The first and second individual loans were very beneficial for Marina's businesses. She was able to get earnings and paid off her second loan early. Now, she is applying for her third individual loan, which will serve her to purchase another washing machine and increase her clothing inventory, making the most of the end-of-year sales.

Marina is very grateful to the Kiva lenders for this new opportunity to continue injecting capital into her business.
