A loan helped to purchase 236 hives and several queen bees to promote generational relay and new beekeepers.

Apisel Beekeeping Community Bank's story

A story of overcoming adversity? This is APISEL Beekeeping Community Bank, who back in 2015 lost their entire coffee production affecting over 30 farmers who were heads of households.

They decided not to abandon their community but instead redirect their efforts into a different business.

From that point on, they began training and learning how to produce honey in a beautiful community surrounded by a diversity of flowers and flowering plants.

With much success, they have been able to start bottling and selling the honey they produced and even rescued many of the coffee plants through pollination.

This resulted in bringing jobs back to their mountain community.

After seeing this success, many other members of the community are encouraged to start beekeeping and empower their community bank.

Because of this, APISEL Beekeeping Community Bank is seeking a KIVA loan to purchase 236 hives and several queen bees to promote generational relay and new beekeepers in their community.
