Mirna is 41 years old and is from a rural community in the State of Quetzaltenango, in the high plateaus of Guatemala. Mirna is married and had four children, two of whom have died, and an 18 year old and a 20 year old, who are the light of her life. Due to the economic situation of her parents, Mirna only went to school for one year, and was not able to continue.
Mirna is a very hard working and enterprising woman who is asking for her first individual loan from Puente de Amistad. Mirna has a business selling snacks and bananas, and also has two minibuses with which she offers public transport and private trips.
Mirna was part of a communal bank for several years and now that her business is growing, she has become part of a new program called Puente al Exito. This program gives Mirna the opportunity to obtain an individual loan, and to receive buisiness consultation. Due to the partnership between Puente de Amistad and Kiva, Mirna is asking Kiva for her first individual loan. Mirna plans to use her loan to buy several cases of bananas. and to maintain two minibuses so they will be safe for her passengers.
