A loan helped to keep Mission: Comics a vital part of the local arts and literary community.

Leef's story

Since the COVID pandemic San Francisco still hasn’t really recovered. It seems like every week, I learn about another local small business that has to shut down. It breaks my heart to see so many business institutions that contribute to the historically rich culture of the city have to shut down due to lack of funding and support.

I don’t want Mission: Comics to have to close, too. But like many other businesses, our sales still haven’t recovered to pre-pandemic 2019 levels. In fact sales have fallen off significantly in the last year putting the business in serious peril. I'm proud of the way Mission: Comics has contributed to the community over our 14 years in business and enriched the lives of many. Every day I hear how grateful people are that the store exists, but that doesn't help keep up with growing costs and sales dips.

I believe San Francisco and the neighborhood will rebound, but I want the store to still be around for that resurgence and continue to contribute to the city’s culture of arts and literature! Despite the slow recovery, San Francisco remains a beautiful place that people will continue to want o live and work in. Still though we really need more community support in order to endure.

This loan is special because:

It supports a small business owner with 0%-interest, zero-fee capital.
