A loan helped to support a refugee entrepreneur replenish his firewood stock in bulk.

Ukash's story

Ukash is a refugee from Somalia operating a firewood sales business within Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp. He started the business in 2021, and to date, he has built a rich clientele base from both his fellow refugees and the host community around the area.

As firewood has a high demand in the camp, the business has recorded an increase in sales volume over the past few months. He has since started a mobile money transfer service business to supplement and diversify his income.

His stock is currently running low, and he needs to replenish. He hopes to purchase in bulk and make use of the economies of scale to improve his margins for this season.
