06_Keur Serigne Bara Group's story

This group consists of 20 women who share strong connections of mutual support for each other. They live in the same neighbourhood and jumped at the chance to join the banc villageois when in was set up in their district in December 2005. Their main business is retail.

The group’s representative is Madame Khoury (standing on the far right of the photo with her hand raised). She is 35 years old, married and the mother of 5 children, two of whom are daughters. She is in the used-clothes retail business. She has solid experience in this sector, having been involved in it for several years.

She plans to use this loan to buy bales of used clothes for re-sale to her customers.
The profits made will allow her to develop her business, boost her savings and help her husband to look after their family.
