Jovia's story

Jovia is 34 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, with 3 of them currently in school. For the past seven years, Jovia has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw food.

To help expand her business, Jovia has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw food and more vegetables for resale. It will help Jovia to generate greater profits and take good care of her children by providing them with enough food and also pay rent for the stall. Jovia hopes that in the future, she will be able to expand her food stall, increasing her sales.

Jovia is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Jovia, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
