A loan helped a member to buy new designs for traditional and casual clothing.

Lluvia De Bendiciones Group's story

In the beautiful state of Sacatepéquez there are exciting green landscapes. In this area the population speaks Spanish. This is where Esther, a thirty one year old wife, mother of two girls (5 and 8) and and a businesswoman lives. Esther feels lucky to have attended eight years of school. Although she wanted to continue her studies, she dedicated herself to working to help her mother, who is a single mother with several children also.

Despite this challenge, she was able to get ahead and establish her own business. She gets up early and attends to the household chores. In her free time, Esther attends to the sale of casual / traditional clothing and is dedicated to making embroidery for traditional blouses and skirts. She is applying for her third Kiva loan to invest in new clothing designs.

In the future, Esther wants to see her children achieve a higher education level and to have her own place.

There are seven women who make up the Community Bank of Puente de Amistad "Lluvia de Bendiciones". They sell clothes, are embroiderers, sell firewood and make accessories for firecrackers. The desire of these women is to continue expanding their businesses. In addition to access to small loans, the women benefit from receiving monthly training in educational issues as part of Puente de Amistad's 'Microcredit Plus' program. These topics include management and health. Every two months they receive basic health services and examinations specific to women.

Thank you!
