A loan helped a member to purchase seed and fertilizer to cultivate her fields.

Medina Niassene Group's story

Mme Fatou is the president of the group Medina Niassen. She is shown on the photo kneeling dressed in black, with a pink scarf and a golden watch on her left wrist. She is 47, married to a teacher, and has two children in school. She is a market gardener and has been doing this work since she was a teenager.

She has borrowed money from VGS to increase production.
Mme Fatou buys seed and fertilizer in her village. After the harvest, she sells her products at the weekly market and uses what is left as feed for the animals. With the income she earns she takes care of the family's needs (health, food, education, hygiene, etc.).

The challenges for her business include insufficient land, lack of water, sales and competition. Her primary wish is to have a very large orchard surrounded by vegetable gardens and to become among the best producers of vegetables in the commune.
