A loan helped transform locally grown peppers into delicious sauces to sell in neighborhood Pittsburgh markets.

Lisa's story

My husband, Frank, has always been drawn to spicy food. Family getaways often include visits to the local market in search of a new flavor of pepper sauce. Six years ago, a close friend shared their garden-grown cayenne peppers with us and Frank was captivated by their fresh flavor and heat. That batch of peppers sparked his passion to ferment fresh vegetables and pair them with perfect ingredients. In the years to follow, we grew our own peppers and turned them into new and exciting recipes. Friends and family would anxiously await our fall harvest and a new robust and flavorful hot sauce. They would often encourage us to sell it - “It was that good!” they would say.

We began to dream of bringing our recipes to others, to share our creation, our “little bottles of joy” as we liked to call them. We had done this already with our full-time remodeling business of 14 years, so we wondered why not hot sauce, too?

Frank and I discovered, a long time ago, that we work well together. My background as an accountant and then business manager of multiple companies has been an advantage for us. Our work ethic and love for what we do has fueled our other family business for well over a decade. Creating fiery flavors is our passion and our next goal is to share them with everyone.
