A loan helped a woman minority owned business needing help with costs to meet the client demands of quality services.

Johanna's story

I received my Esthetician license in 2018. My love for this industry has derived from my own journey of suffering from acneic skin issues, and nothing was working. I also had a love for makeup which only pushed me further in going into the esthetics field. I knew when I began school this was where I was supposed to be, and I had made the right choice. I know it has taken me longer to find my place and purpose because I was a single teen mother, and my primary focus was to support my children and not pursue my passions. My excitement only grew after Beauty school and the desire to learn and further my expertise grew for the beauty industry. I continued to learn and received my dermaplaning certification (a specific treatment), Lash extension certification, and enrolled in classes in the QC makeup academy to get further knowledge and receive my certification in makeup and airbrush makeup. I was actively working with clients and loved seeing their self confidence boost when their skin began improving, or received a service and I could see the instant gratification of them loving their make up looks, or lashes.

After gaining more experience and working with individuals, I knew I wanted to open my own place someday. I had watched my mother and late uncle pursue their dreams as immigrants that came to this country and I knew if they could do it with the obstacles they faced, that it was possible for me to achieve my goals and dreams with perseverance and hard work.
