A loan helped to buy more bales of used clothes to sell.

Asha's story

Asha, from Liberia, is 42 years old and a single mother with 4 children. Her children are presently in school and live at home. Asha, herself, attended school up to tenth grade.

She sells used clothes. She learned how to sell from her mother and started the business with her own little savings. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site and sells Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 to 5:00 pm. She has no problem with her sales.

To excel in business, Asha applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending Partner. This financing will be used to buy more bales of used clothes to sell in order to repay her loan and increase her income.

Her dreams for the future are to build a house and continue her children education. She is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
