A loan helped to buy seedlings.

Esther's story

Esther is a refugee single mother to six children who all are school-going. Life as a single mother has not been a bed of roses.

She has to work extremely hard to be able to survive. She is a farmer who grows millet, sorghum, maize, beans, and groundnuts.

She wakes up very early and goes to the garden on a daily basis. This time around she has learnt better farming methods. so, she would like to grow onions, tomatoes, eggplants, and cabbages.

These crops don't take a very long time in the garden and the demand for them is very high. She would like to buy the seedlings.

With this in place, she will be able to pay school fees and is certain of building a permanent house one day. She is very grateful for all the support that VisionFund and Kiva has given her.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees in Uganda rebuild and sustain their livelihoods.
