A loan helped to provide improvements to his coffee plantation.

Juan Ramon's story

Juan is a 56-year-old coffee farmer. He lives in the north of Nicaragua. He makes a living from coffee production as his main economic activity, currently, with more than 12 years of experience.

His small farm is located in a remote area north of Wiwilí, Nicaragua, with 2.11 hectares (5.2 acres) of coffee, where he lives with his wife and children.

This year he is requesting a loan to help him rehabilitate 1.4 hectares (3.5 acres) of coffee. The financing will allow him to buy the vegetative material, equipment, tools, and payment of labor, necessary to give adequate management to the coffee plantations. The investment will have a return starting in the second year.

During the coffee season, he provides 16 temporary jobs in his community, contributing to the economic development of his employees.

In the photograph he is accompanied by his wife.

This is his eighth loan received from PACSA.

This loan is special because:

It helps farmers swap unproductive coffee plants with new ones.
