A loan helped a member to run a restaurant.

01_Lelo Group's story

The banc villaegois was created in February 2000 and is made up of brave women who live in the village and the surrounding area.

These women have a very good relationship and solidarity and most of them are active in trade and catering.

They have received loans several times and have always honored their commitments.

Fatou (standing on the right in the photo with her hand raised) is 56 years old: she is a widow and has two daughters, both in school.

She is active in the restaurant business and runs a canteen at home where she sells breakfast.

She buys oil, spaghetti, mayonnaise, tuna, butter, cowpeas, ground coffee, peas, lentils and stuffed food to cook and sell for breakfast.

She has a good relationship with her customers because she is friendly, helpful, sells delicious food, is very sociable and, when some of her customers cannot afford to pay, she sells to them on credit until their situation improves.

She uses part of her profits to increase her savings and the rest to take care of her family as the sole breadwinner.

In this group: Fatou, Oumou Khairy, Fatou, Seynabou, Cathy, Fama
