A loan helped purchase variety of cosmetic items to meet her customer demands.

Shafawu's story

Shafawu is a 27-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her nuclear family in the Kumbungu district in Ghana. She sells cosmetics.

She is requesting a Kiva loan to purchase a variety of cosmetic items to meet her customer demands. She plans to use the profit she earns to reinvest in her business.

She will repay the 'social interest' on her loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build their self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
