A loan helped a small business build inventory and secure manufacturers to continue to grow.

Courtney's story

My name is Courtney Parker. I am the founder and owner of RubItSnout. I am a native Arkansan, but have had the privilege of living in several different states. I worked in manufacturing, so I would move about every two years during my manufacturing career.

One of the first questions I would ask when moving to a new city or state was, “What is the local staple of food”? The more I traveled the more I started to cook using local ingredients and flavors. So, during my travels I made a stop in the Midwest, where I acquired an interest to learn the art of bbqing and smoking different types of food. This is when my first seasoning blend was created. There was no science or thought process behind this mixture, yet I used the seasonings and spices I had available in my spice cabinet. Luckily, I wrote down the amounts. Hence, the original flavor “that started it all”, Sweeter Heat was born. I began sharing the seasoning with friends, colleagues, and neighbors.

A few of the people I shared the seasoning with were chefs and/ or competed in BBQ competitions. So, after experimenting with a friend’s smoker and receiving feedback from neighbors and friends, I decided to enter my first bbq competition. The bbq competition was a KCBS sanctioned event, and we placed 2nd in Chicken! After that, I was hooked, so I teamed up with a buddy and we began entering multiple competitions each year.
