A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and helps her husband with building their little house.

Manuna's story

Manuna, aged 28, is married to a carpenter and has two children. Currently, they live in her husband's extended family's house. Manuna does weaving with a group of women in their neighborhood. They weave mats, taovala, and fihu, using white and brown pandanus. Her mother taught her the skills of weaving, knowing that Manuna could make a living for her family from it. When her woven goods are ready, Manuna sells them to her sisters who live overseas. Her weaving really helps her husband with taking care of their extended family, comprising 20 people who all live together in just one house.

Manuna and her husband have their own piece of land. With this loan, not only can she purchase the amount of pandanus she needs for her weaving, but she can also use some of her loan to help her husband with the building of their very own little house.
