A loan helped a member to buy rice, sugar, soap, chicken, and oil.

Mi Bello Jardin Group's story

"Mi Bello Jardín" is a communal bank in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. It includes ten members, nine women and one man. Their work is selling food, clothing, cosmetics; grocery stores; chargers, as well as selling basic grains and seasonal production of coffee.

Maria Luz (wearing a pink blouse, blue skirt, and pink sandals) is 39 years old. She has two daughters, ages 18 and 23 years. Her business is a mini grocery store, and she has four years' experience with it. One of the difficulties she faces is that there is only one means of transportation to leave the community. She will invest the loan in the purchase of rice, sugar, soap, chicken, and oil. She has been taking loans from Pro Mujer for five years. She feels good as a woman because she does not need to depend upon a man for household expenses.
