Ilba Yicela's story

Ilba Yicela is a young and brave indigenous woman who has been an agriculturist since she was just ten years old. Ilba Yicela currently lives in Totoró, Cauca, where she cultivates yellow potatoes on a piece of land assigned to her by the indigenous council of her municipality. In addition to her crops, Ilba Yicela also owns a small convenience store in her home, where she sells all kinds of household goods including cleaning products, food, rice, and oil. Being the only store in her area gives Ilba Yicela a competitive advantage.

Ilba Yicela is a single mother of two children. She strives every day to provide her children with a better quality of life. She currently lives in a house that was also assigned to her by the indigenous council, and she wants to preserve it in the best conditions.

Aiming to improve her crops and become more efficient, Ilba Yicela has applied for a loan of $1,851,937 COP to buy the necessary fertilizers. This loan will allow her to improve the quality of her crops and increase her production, giving her a greater capacity to provide her children with better living conditions.
