A loan helped to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale.

Mastula's story

Mastula is 37 years old and lives in the town of Maganjo in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children who are all currently in school. For the past 4 years, Mastula has been working hard to manage her boutique, where she sells all kinds of adult clothes, like shirts, dresses, etc.

To help expand her business, Mastula has requested a loan of 5,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale. This will help Mastula to generate greater profits and provide enough basic needs for her family.
Mastula hopes that in the future she will be able to build her rental house and expand her business.

Mastula is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Mastula who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
