A loan helped purchase more female animals to expand her business.

Ramatu's story

Ramatu is a 27-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her family in the Sissala East District in Ghana.

She owns a small animal farm where she rears goats and sheep. She is requesting a Kiva loan to purchase more female animals to expand her business. She plans to use the profits she earns to reinvest in her business. She hopes to support her husband with their household expenses.

She will repay the 'social interest' on her loan by volunteering two-and-a-half hours per week as a Camfed Learner Guide, supporting students at her local school, conducting home visits, monitoring their progress and supporting them where needed.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
