A loan helped a member to buy agricultural surpluses such as corn, beans and other cereals to resell.


Nkhame Group's story

NKhame-1 is a group of small farmers from Angonia District. They have been working together over the last four years within the savings group and also work in a support group for each other.

They are 15 members. Three of them are men. Each member of the group has a trading business. They buy and sell agricultural surpluses such as, maize, beans, soya, and vegetables.

In 2018, the group started attending iDE training sessions to help them improve their businesses. They learned how to deal with different types of customers, as well as negotiate better prices for their products.

Joviala is the first man from left to right in the photo wearing a black jacket and he plays the role of leader of the group. He sells agricultural inputs and provides transport services in his community for small farmers and helps his colleagues in the group when they need transport and some business advice.

The group is requesting for is second Kiva loan to buy more agricultural surpluses such as cereals and vegetables to resell in the market.
