Liz Maribel is the member who is representing the group “Las Guapas”. These women are from the city of Aregua, which is known for its strawberry crops and handicrafts made of clay. It is located less than 30 kilometers from the capital city of Asunción and lies on a slope that rests on the shores of Lake Ypacarai, which has beautiful views of the border cities of San Bernadino and Altos.
Liz Maribel sells handmade ice cream made from seasonal fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and passion fruit. She also has other classic flavors such as dulce de leche, chocolate, and American cream.
Liz Maribel has five children. Through her work, she is able to help with her family’s household expenses and her children’s education. On this occasion, she will buy a freezer so that she can prepare more ice cream this summer. With her previous loan, she was able to buy a machine that was very useful in making her products. Her dream is to distribute her products in more places.
The other women in the group sell ceramics, desserts, cleaning products, and food.
