A loan helped to purchase modern farm inputs such as certified seeds and organic fertilizers in order to improve the quality of her output.

Priscah's story

Wonderful Kiva lenders! The remote town of Kapsowar is home to Priscah. She is a married woman, aged 34, who has three lovely children.

Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her children a good start by providing them with a quality education. Her primary source of income is crop farming. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal college education and is content with the farming lifestyle.

The area is a favorable area for farming, so she is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and seeds. This will enable her to grow more crops to reap maximum profits and increase her business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially the Kapsowar area, is very challenging, but she feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. Her goal is to improve her living conditions and secure the future of her children. Her biggest dreams are to be able to support her family by herself, to become independent, and to buy a home.

This loan will ensure a future rich harvest and income. Priscah is so grateful to her lenders for understanding and empowering a woman.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
