A loan helped a member to buy rice, beans, sugar, and oil.

Bonitas Group's story

This communal bank comes from Managua, Nicaragua. It is a nice group of eight women, with businesses mainly in the commerce area, selling various products, groceries, cosmetics, and clothing.

Odili Del Socorro (the member in the center of the image with the striped blouse and blue jeans) is 47 years old, lives in a stable union with her spouse who is a taxi driver, and has a 27-year-old daughter.

During the weekends she sells drinks and food. She started by selling drinks and snacks, and later started the grocery store and offered a wider range of products.

This loan is to buy beans, sugar, rice, and oil. She has improved her grocery store and natural drink sale business by replacing the wood shelves with display cases and replacing the floor. This loan will help improve the store even further by allowing her to expand the business into medicines and perfumes sales, and buy a bigger display case.

She likes her business because it keeps her busy. The challenges are a slow economy and lower drink sales during the winter, which she compensates with the grocery sales.

Invest in this woman and transform her life.
