At 33 years old, Elsy works as a cook and has been working in that same job for five years. Through this source of income, she has become a key piece for her family and intends to improve their living conditions. For this reason, with great hope, she has visited the MiCrédito office to request a Kiva loan with which she plans to buy cement, sand, pay for labor, a toilet, iron and zinc. With this important investment she will build her own toilet. Her desire is to continue improving the living conditions of her loved ones.

A sus 33 años de edad Elsy se dedica a trabajar como cocinera y tiene cinco años laborando en ese mismo oficio. A través de esa fuente de ingresos se ha convertido en una pieza clave para su familia y pretende mejorar sus condiciones de vida, por eso, con mucha esperanza ha visitado la oficina de MiCrédito para solicitar un financiamiento KIVA con el que planea comprar cemento, arena, pagar la mano de obra, inodoro, hierros y zinc, con esta importante inversión construirá su propio servicio higiénico. Su anhelo es seguir mejorando las condiciones de vida de sus seres amados.

This water and sanitation loan is part of Micrédito’s effort to improve the living standards of communities in Nicaragua. Today many Nicaraguan homes do not have access to safe water or sanitation facilities. With few hygienic alternatives available to them, families often face water pollution resulting in respiratory, gastrointestinal or skin diseases as well as river pollution due to illegal sewage piping.

By partnering with Kiva, Micredito will offer clients a water and sanitation loan, helping them access key resources to build latrines, septic tanks and sinks.
