A loan helped to buy rolls of dried pandanus leaves, wools, etc.

Katua's story

Like many Pacific islanders, Katua has traditional weaving skills. She wants to use this expertise to earn money and support her family. Her husband is a fisherman, but his income is seasonal.

Katua has applied for a loan to buy more yarn and other materials, to increase her output and sales and her income. She is confident that by expanding production, she will be able to boost turnover. She hopes that more income will help improve their children’s education and living conditions.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
