Siah's story

Siah is a 40-year-old businesswoman from Liberia. She is a single mother with 5 children; they are presently in school and live at home. Siah is a hardworking businesswoman who sells cooked food. She has been operating her sales for 12 years now and uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. She learned how to sell from her mother and got her start up capital from her brother. She sells Monday through Saturday.

Siah is requesting a Kiva loan to buy more oil, rice, fish and other ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell. She likes her business because it gives her money on a daily basis. Siah is highly grateful for the financial support rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
