A loan helped to buy silk thread, dye colours, and materials for weaving silk cloth.

Thananya's story

Thananya is a married woman with two children who lives in a rural area in Surin, Thailand. She lives with her husband and her children. Both of her children are still studying in high school. Her family's primary source of income are from frog raising and silk weaving. Her husband is working as a general laborer.

Thananya has been running a weaving business since many years ago, and she was inspired by her mother, who taught her to weave silk cloth when she was still school-age. So far since then, she has been continuing the business from her mother. This business helps to support her family's living. Also, the growth and expansion of the silk cloth market value are getting higher.

During this period, she aims to expand her business on a wider scale and produce more products to meet the satisfaction of the customers. Moreover, she plans to continue the family's traditional artwork for a livelihood and pass it on to future generations.

In order to achieve her aspirations, Thananya applied for a Kiva loan once again to buy silk thread, dye colors, and materials for weaving silk cloth.

This is Thananya's second loan, and she repaid her previous loan. This financial support will help her in achieving her business goals. She is confident that this loan will boost her business's income, allowing her to pay for her family's expenses and the education fee of her children.

This loan is special because:

It helps women living in rural areas improve financial literacy and invest in their businesses.
