A loan helped to purchase farm inputs (fertilizers and seeds) to boost her yields and improve her sales.

Centrine's story

Hello, special people!

Centrine feels happy to be a part of Kiva. She is a woman who lives in the countryside. She is a mother who truly adores her children, for whom she has had to go through many adversities in her life.

She lives in Bungoma, an area endowed with natural streams. Centrine grows crops and raises dairy cows on her farm. She produces milk and eggs for commercial purposes, as opposed to many rural farmers who produce for subsistence. She also grows maize for her food and to sell. These commercial activities place her in a position to also engage in other agricultural businesses.

Centrine dreams that farming will be her way to pull out of poverty and see to it that all her children successfully complete their studies. She is a visionary who is keen to keep on progressing. In the modern world, agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic. Therefore, the inputs that are used in the sector today must be upgraded to ensure effective production. She is seeking a loan to buy farming inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizer to improve her family's quality of life. Through this action, she will be able to improve the quality of her farm products and attract more buyers, which will lead to more profit.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
