A loan helped to purchase sewing machines, sewing equipment, and materials for using in the business.

Wanviva's story

Wanviva is a married woman who lives with her husband and child in a rural community in Surin Province, Northeast Thailand. Her family makes a living primarily through a sewing business, raising cattle, and cultivating a jasmine rice farm.

Previously, Wanviva received a Kiva loan to invest in a cattle farm, which is doing well. Aside from the occupation, she's also skillful in sewing cloth. She set up a small sewing business for herself and she has a large number of repeat customers gradually. This job has provided her family with enough money to cover their daily expenses. During this period, she has been looking for a loan because she needs more materials and equipment to use in her business. Then, she applied for a Kiva loan once again to buy sewing machines and the necessary equipment and materials for use in the sewing business.

This loan will assist in the expansion of her sewing business and this also benefits female entrepreneurs in the community. Furthermore, she aspires to own a small sewing shop and provide for her family in the future.

This loan is special because:

It helps women living in rural areas improve financial literacy and invest in their businesses.
