A loan helped to enable expanded access to affordable onsite dental care for 7,000 underserved indigenous Ecuadorians annually.

Novulis's story

Three of four people in Latin America lack access to quality dental care and preventative health education, which leads to a high risk of tooth decay, infections, oral diseases, pregnancy complications, pneumonia, dementia, heart disease, stroke, and many other illnesses. In Ecuador, nearly 13 million people live with deficient oral health.

Novulis is a public-health, B Corp that provides onsite dental care to underserved communities with mobile, portable & stationary clinics. The first of its kind, Novulis partners with employers like flower farms and factories to deliver care to employees and their family members with employer sponsorship of preventative care; integral dental care is provided with no-interest loans to the workers through payroll deductions.

Novulis’ mission is to bridge the gap of access to people who have never or rarely have been to the dentist. Novulis has provided affordable dental services to over 13,000 underserved Ecuadorians, having eliminated up to 95% of oral diseases in certain patient populations.

This loan of $100,000 will enable Novulis to construct one new mobile and three portable clinics that will serve over 7,000 low-income Ecuadorians each year. This is Novulis’ first loan through the Kiva Social Enterprise program. For more on Novulis’ impact view this video.
