Hersy's story

Hersy is a senior agriculturist from Piendamó, Cauca with more than 20 years of experience with diverse crops. She currently specializes in coffee production, owning more than 3,000 plants which she distributes in 1 hectare of land. Apart from coffee, Hersy also cultivates corn and beans, which she uses as alternate yields to ensure yearlong income.

Hersy is a single mother who lives with her two daughters in a house that was inherited from her father. Besides her crops, she also works at a local candy shop where they produce “bocadillo,” a local candy made from guava fruit, which is very popular in Colombia.
