A loan helped to buy more birds and broilers.

Rehemah's story

Rehemah is 49 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 6 children with 4 of them currently in school. For the past 20 years, Rehemah has been working hard to manage her poultry farm.

To help expand her business, Rehemah has requested a loan of 2500000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more birds and broilers, and will help Rehema generate greater profits so she can manage to buy food for her family and also manage to take care of her family's basic needs like clothes and medical bills for her children. Rehemah hopes that in the future she will be able to become the leading supplier of poultry birds for her community.

Rehemah is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small Group members like Rehemah who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
