A loan helped to build a safe latrine at home.

Vann's story

Vann, aged 35, is from a rural village of Chi Kraeng district, Siem Reap Province. He has been working in construction for more than three years and also works as a paid laborer to earn additional income. He has a common-law relationship with his wife, who is a loving mother of three children. His wife works in agriculture as well.

He works very hard everyday at the construction site and works more than eight hours per day to make sure that his family has enough food. Vann can earn approximately only USD 7 per day which has to cover expenses of food, medicine, clothes and especially his children's school allowances. This repair business is the main source of his family's economics.

Currently, his house doesn't have a safe latrine. Vann is requesting a loan to build a safe latrine at home. In this way, he hopes to increase the value of his home and improve sanitation, ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of his family and protect the environment. With the support of this loan, he will be able to purchase construction supplies such as bricks and cement to build a safe latrine and pay for labor costs. Vann believes that through his hard work and perseverance, he will be able to attain a better standard of living someday.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to clean, renewable energy sources, like solar and biogas.
