A loan helped to buy silk thread, dye colors and materials for weaving and selling silk cloth.

Yim's story

Yim lives with three other family members in a Khmer community of Surin province in the northeastern region of Thailand, the lowest income per capita region. Generally, her family makes a living by growing rice and weaving silk cloth for sale.

She learned to weave silk cloth from her mother since she was young and very skillful producing the product. Both online and offline customers buy her product. She's seen an opportunity to expand the business and applied for the Kiva loan to buy silk thread, dye color and materials for weaving.

The loan will encourage her to afford good quality materials for weaving sufficiently, as well as support the woman entrepreneur to earn more income for spending in her family.

This loan is special because:

It helps women living in rural areas improve financial literacy and invest in their businesses.
