A loan helped to pay my employees and to buy new equipment for my business.

Gemadi's story

It was a tough decision to make opening up my business. I didn't know where to begin and what's ahead. It was in the middle of the pandemic when many businesses were closing their doors to their customers. But I knew that in order to help my family and to help others as well, I had to come up with something and put my ideas into work. It was then I began doing my research and taking steps towards success.

I love cooking and making healthy food. As a child, growing up in Africa, I did not have the option of choosing what I wanted to eat. Whether it was good for my body or not, I was forced to eat whatever was before me due to our unfortunate circumstances. Now that I am in a better situation in the United States, I've always wanted to help myself and others by encouraging them to adopt healthy options. I wanted to put it into an idea since it is my passion. I was able to borrow some money to rent the food cart and to buy equipment.

I also spent everything I had buying or paying for whatever was necessary for the start of the business. Through this, I wanted to be independent while also provide healthy food to others. My desire is to grow this business by putting more food carts in different cities. People drive 15-25 miles to come and buy food from and we want to be where they are.

This loan is special because:

It will help this entrepreneur upgrade equipment and expand their business.
