A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income for her family.

Jarbet's story

Jarbet (a repeat Kiva borrower) is a 58-year-old mother of one child. She lives in Eldoret, a town that hosts elite Kenyan athletes.

She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer with ten years of experience. Jarbet is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income for her family.

Juhudi Kilimo has been a pathway out of poverty for smallholder farmers in Kenya in the recent past, helping them to avoid being exploited by local moneylenders. Jarbet hopes that Kiva lenders will be inspired to support her with a loan during this tough global economic recession.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
