Vareria's story

Vareria is a female Ugandan, aged 64 years. She lives in Kyakijoka in Kagadi district. She is widowed and has 4 children who are all school-going.

She is a very hardworking commercial farmer growing mostly maize and beans, an activity she has done for the past 20 years. She has been able to meet most of the basic requirements of life due to commercial farming and also planted 2 acres of coffee to increase on her production. She has rental apartments in the nearby trading centre as another source of income, which she acquired from farming business. Her future plan is to venture into piggery given the prolific and lucrative nature of the business.

She is a seven-time borrower with UGAFODE and is seeking a credit facility of 6,000,000 UGX to buy farm inputs and harvest the farm produce. Her biggest setbacks in this business are unfavorable weather and price fluctuations, which affect the business income.
